Home to newlyweds
Robb and Rodie White in the late 1930's. His best selling
book of 1953, "Our Virgin Island" chronicled their
life on Marina Cay. It later became a film starring Sidney
Poitier, (much of which was filmed on the island). For twenty
years after Robb White's departure for WWII, the island
lay uninhabited, until a small hotel opened in 1960. His home
is restored and is now the location of the "Sunset Bar"
that features local entertainers and a spectacular view of
the Drake Passage.
The shallow, warm waters make this an ideal spot for swimming
and snorkeling.
